The Department of Materials Science and Engineering has many state-of-the-art research facilities that benefit faculty, research scientists, and students. These core facilities are physically housed in and administered by the department, by centers, and by institutes or shared with other Penn State research groups.
The Edward Steidle Buildiing is the primary home of our department, housing our undergraduate, graduate, and departmental offices, and many of our faculty and graduate student offices. With more than 22,350 square feet of shared laboratory space researchers are able to collaborate with one another.
The Millennium Science Complex is home to the Materials Research Institute (MRI) and features several state of the art laboratories centered around materials-related research. A handful of the department's faculty and graduate students have offices in this building.
